Occasionally the book “Resist to the Devil!” by Thomas Brooks hasfallen into my hands. This book had been read in a moment. It is justthe nutrition we waited so long! The literature of the Puritan writers is very rare in our lands, but desired. Our church is a Baptist one and situated in small town in the mouth of Dunai. This book has causedmany to fall to thinking about ours relations with God. The book is a pithy and an uncompromise one. It is impossible to read it indifferently. I have found myself also in it. Glory be to God, and thank you. Fundamental theological knowledge without a living communication with God means nothing. And the literature of such content is a large help.

Nine years ago I broke a neck, having fallen out of the window of the third floor. Now I'm riveted to bed and to an invalid carriage. Seven years back the Lord had come into my life and healed my soul, forgave my sins, and now I am the member of His large family! Because of the physical inability I have no opportunity to be in the church often, in winter I constantly stay at home. I receive edification for my soul, generally, through reading the Bible and books.

Cordial gratitude for the literature, sent by you, especially for the book “Resist to the Devil!” by Thomas Brooks. You didn't plough the sand and didn't pray at random. My soul required the detailed definition of all these things for a long time. You've made a great thing for me. My eyes have been opened, and the soul has been drawn still closer to the Lord. Up to this moment the Satan fairly bothered me with his obtrusive mental voices, ideas. Finally I became enmeshed in these voices and didn't manage to make out in any way, who spoke to me, and later I refused to listen to any voices at all, except the Bible - you see, God speaks through it.Devil plagued me with fears. All the time he made attempts to sow uncertainty in omnipotence of God in my heart, in the God's ability for protecting me and my children. It happened, when the quarrels with the elder daughter arose and I was shouting, she also started to yell; we answered one another yelling. Many times I made efforts not to shout, but each time I failed and I could do nothing, and then I said myself: “How I is it possible for me now to appeal to God?” I felt myself as a miserable sinner, which again fall to shout, and implored the Lord to forgive me. But the devil - the enemy of the human souls - liked to see my spiritual suffering. When I was consoled in the Lord, rejoiced in His love, His light, His grace, the Satan searched the way to take away this joy from me in order to see me again suffering and depressed. It is not pleasant to the devil at all, that you send me magazines and spiritual books, and I offer the money to your mission. And he began to tempt me by you. It was started with the thing that he began to focus my attention on your well-built flats. “Well, you only look how they live, - he shouted to me, - and you dwell in a shed. The silly one, where you send the money to?” But I remained faithful to the promise, which I'd given to God, - to send the donations for the ministry of your mission. Having seen, that I didn't react on his temptations, the Satan began to cry other words: “What are you doing, think of your children!”, - and it was just when I didn't hear a word of reproach in this occasion from the side of my children. Some time later, the devil did not shout at me any more, and began to speak quietly, but with a smile in his voice: “I don't understand, why you do it all in general”, - and waited for my reacting. He wanted to inspire me with the thought that you deceived me. Do you think that the Satan not have forced me to hate a good friend of mine? But the Lord was merciful to me and carried me on His hands through all these temptations. I'll keep supporting your ministering financially, but now it won't be simply the sent money, which should be transferred to you in the name of God, but the money, being given away with love for the Lord. And now I particularly realize, why the Satan did not want me to send the money to you: he knew, that you'd issue the beautiful book “Resist to the Devil!”, and so as you would have my mail address, you'd send me the parcel post with the Christian books, among which there would be the book, revealing him as an enemy, and, having read it, I'd learn how to resist him. Up to this moment nobody could explain me so detailed and clear all these things, and I'm very glad that you have rendered me the invaluable help through this book. Besides a great desire to distribute your books among the believers in the neighboring stanitsas occurred to my heart. Therefore, please, send me the books for propagation: “Resist to the Devil!” by Thomas Brooks, “The Duties of Parents” by Joseph C. Ryle, “Profiting from the Word” by A. W. Pink and others, on your discretion. And more - a pleasant news: the desire to read the Bible occurred to my elder daughter, after reading of the book “Resist to the Devil!”. Glory be to God!

At present there are very few good books, but you issue the perfect books, which carry encouragement, strengthening and inspiration.

The book “Practical Religion” by Anglican bishop John Charles Ryle, sent by you, differs by an account easy to understand and contains a sensible Bible doctrine. Our church was formed quite recently with the assistance of the Consistory of Omsk Evangelic Reformatory church (K. Mikheyev) and the missionary department of the Union of Reformatory churches of Russia (M. Malakhov). Our church is very young and is in the making. There are several regular parishioners in the community, but its staff isn't stable for the present. However, we strive for growing and strengthening in our evangelic community. As well as all newly-formed communities, we experience an acute need in the Christian literature. We want to create a library of a Christian book in our city. We are aware, that your mission made a translation and has already issued about ten names of the books being the classics of both Puritan and Reformatory theological thought. We admire your work. We address to you with a request to render a feasible support to our ministry, sending the book of your publishing house for the library, you have for a distribution, - on 1-3 copies of each name.

We are very grateful to God and you for your ministry of publishing and distributing of the spiritual literature. These are really those books, which are so necessary for the whole Church today. We believe that the Puritan divinity and the practical way of life are the things that correspond to the truth and for what the Lord has called people. Your books turned to be very necessary and useful for me personally and many members of our community, took the major place in the church library and were sent to be a gift, as a spiritual help to some beginning Christians in our Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous district. Because of the lack of such literature and an extreme need in it, we want to ask you to send us this literature in a bit larger amount, not for ourselves, but in order to have the opportunity to send it to those, who require it, within the limits of Nizhnevartovsk district of the Tyumen area and, maybe, further, as far as the material means of our community will allow. Thank you very much for the book “The Secret of Communion with God” by Matthew Henry. The secret has revealed to me in the piety of the author himself: I am struck with the reflection of the presence of God in his words and thoughts. I'd heard from the believers before, that in the process of my growing in faith, while comprehending the truths of the Holy Scripture, my consciousness would change and the words mundane would turn into the Bible ones; but I didn't believe this. And now I've seen that a great mystery is serious piety! It is just according to the words, used by a man, can be possible to understand his whole experience in life, in them the whole wealth
all the depth of human heart are reflected in them. The earthy life is a preparation for the meeting with the Father on heavens. Therefore Pastor Matthew Henry, understanding such responsible task before God, wishes to see in his pupils the natural growing up in a piety. Three sermons by Henry are three lessons, three practical classes of the true Christians on daily service to God in the name of Christ Jesus. The author teaches his flock to pray not only in the morning, but also in any other time: in the midday, before going to bed, at any everyday occupations. This teacher doesn't stand at the pulpit stately, but goes from one pupil to another, admonishes them and asks with anxiety: “Is everything clear?”. And again he explains the rules of everyday life. In spite of the fact that we are parted from the author by centuries, we perfectly understand his sermons; we perceive them so, as if they are stated especially for us. Amazingly! At once you feel that through the centuries and millenniums we are united by everlasting God's Word! In his sermons the author continues to edify us carefully and we see him as a deeply believing man, modest, filled in with a true love to simple people, anxious with our salvation and who gave his short life to the ministry to God. And he goes on his ministering nowadays through the workers of the missions “Come Over and Help” and “The Living Word”, which have issued this book. I'm a newly-converted, just a baby in faith. I came to God late, being 70 years old. Was Christened in July, 2004. At studying of the God's Word the Christian literature helps me very much, about which I hadn't known that there were such good, blessed editions. Reflections about the things, having been read, help to build mutual relations with God correctly, to live in a Christian way of life. Thank you very much for the books sent; they are read by the whole our church, and non-believers also.

The book “All Things for Good” by Thomas Watson after some hours of its reading has made an indelible impression and has brought a considerable advantage for my spiritual growing up! Thanks to God that He works in our life without delay and this book has been given to us to read in the right moment. The content is perfect and is interpreted wonderfully by the translator, obviously having this gift from the Lord! As usual I read, making an abstract. But as for this book I'm willing very much to have the book not as an abstract, but as the origin. If you have any opportunity to send a copy of this actual book, please, do it.

I've got the literature from you. These are remarkable works of the God's servants and they leave a deep trace in the reader's heart. Especially I want to note the book “The Characters in "The Pilgrim's" of John Bunyan” by C. Harinck. While reading of this book I experienced a special excitement, a special animation of spirit and sometimes even accusation. This comment on the allegorical work often shows you as in a mirror. The book by C. Harinck is worth reading by every Christian, for, as it often happens, that on the way of following the Lord a man experiences discomfort, and it is frequently impossible to find out and to understand the cause. This book will help to gain the understanding of such problems. There is one more convict together with me in the cell and he is in delight from this book, too.
