From Prison to a Life of Service

For many years, Oleksandr Mohylnyi’s life was marked by addiction and imprisonment. He accumulated eight criminal convictions, spent years in correctional facilities, and struggled with drug addiction for nearly three decades.
Today, he helps others find hope in Christ through the Light of Resurrection Mission in Ukraine. His story is a testimony to God’s transforming grace and the importance of patient, compassionate ministry.
A New Beginning
After his release from prison, the Lord led Oleksandr to the mission’s rehabilitation centre. There, he heard the gospel, publicly professed his faith, and began a new life with Christ.
In August 2016, Oleksandr was baptized as a public expression of his faith. A few years later, God blessed him with marriage and a family.
The rehabilitation centre became more than a place to receive help. It was where Oleksandr began a new chapter that would eventually lead him to serve others facing struggles he knew well.
Helping Others Find Hope
Earlier this year, Oleksandr joined the staff of the Light of Resurrection Mission. Together with his wife, he now serves in several areas of its work. He helps at the rehabilitation centre, leads the ministry at a tuberculosis hospital, and takes part in feeding people who are homeless or have been displaced by war.
His experience gives him a meaningful connection with those he serves. He understands the grip of addiction, the loneliness of imprisonment, and the despair of seeing his life fall apart. He can listen with understanding and speak with compassion.
Those who meet Oleksandr see someone who has faced struggles like their own and whose life has been changed by Christ. His testimony gives weight to the hope he shares.
Remember Them in Prayer
At Come Over & Hel
p, we are thankful for the faithful work of our partners and for testimonies like Oleksandr’s. Through prison outreach, rehabilitation, and practical care, people in desperate circumstances are hearing the gospel and encountering Christians who walk alongside them.
Please pray for Oleksandr and his wife as they serve. Pray for strength, wisdom, and compassion, and ask the Lord to use their witness to draw many others to new life in Christ.
